Short version
  • For 4K at 60 FPS you want upscaling on a card like the RTX 5060 or better.
  • The Precinct scores 27 on our demand scale, which is tougher than 73% of the 937 games we model.
  • According to our estimates the RTX 5050 is the first desktop RTX 50 card to achieve 60 FPS at 1440p on High settings, and the RTX 5050 at 1080p.
  • Plan for about 5.2 GB of VRAM at 1440p, so 8GB cards are workable.
  • Steam asks for Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 / RX 6600 XT alongside Intel Core i5-10400F / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.

Difficulty profile: how hard is The Precinct to run?

How this game ranks among 937 modelled titles, and what that means for different classes of GPU.

On our demand scale The Precinct scores 27. That makes it harder to run than 73% of the 937 games in our data set, which we class as a demanding game for graphics hardware.

It comes from the recommended card on the Steam page (Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 / RX 6600 XT), which we map onto a common performance scale and convert to 1080p High. Treat it as a relative guide.

What it means by card class

  • As a mid-range card, the RTX 5070 manages 231 FPS at 1080p, 155 FPS at 1440p and 89 FPS at 4K. Reaches 89 FPS at 4K on High, so native 4K is realistic.
  • As an entry card, the RTX 5060 manages 140 FPS at 1080p, 90 FPS at 1440p and 52 FPS at 4K. Good for 4K only with upscaling on (78 FPS), against 52 FPS natively.
  • Take an enthusiast card, the RTX 5090: about 231 FPS at 1080p, 231 FPS at 1440p and 193 FPS at 4K on High. Holds roughly 193 FPS at 4K, so resolution is not the limit.
  • The RTX 5080, standing in for a high-end card, gives roughly 231 FPS at 1080p and 212 FPS at 1440p, with 121 FPS at 4K. Reaches 121 FPS at 4K on High, so native 4K is realistic.

Processor demand is rated separately: The Precinct scores 35 on our CPU scale, higher than 87% of the games we model.

Reading the specs against real hardware

At the bottom end, Steam lists Nvidia GeForce GTX 660Ti / R7 370. That card manages roughly 22 FPS at 1080p on Low by our estimates, falling to roughly 12 FPS on High.

Steam suggests Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 / RX 6600 XT as the recommended card, good for about 80 FPS at 1080p and 52 FPS at 1440p on High here. That is above 60 FPS at 1080p, so the recommended spec reads as a comfortable 1080p target.

Steam asks for Intel Core i5-10400F / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X at the recommended level. That class of processor tops out near 102 FPS in The Precinct by our model.

Memory is listed as 8 GB RAM at minimum and 16 GB RAM recommended, with 8 GB available space needed on disk.

We put The Precinct at about 4 GB at 1080p High, 5.2 GB at 1440p and 7.2 GB at 4K. That is an estimate derived from the recommended GPU, so treat it as a guide and leave some memory spare.

If memory is tight, lower textures first: Medium brings the 1440p figure down to roughly 4.4 GB.

What each memory size means for The Precinct

  • On a 6 GB card, 1080p is comfortable, 1440p is tight and 4K is short of memory on High. Where it is short, Medium textures and upscaling are the practical fixes.
  • On an 8 GB card, 1080p is comfortable, 1440p is comfortable and 4K is tight on High. Where it is short, Medium textures and upscaling are the practical fixes.
  • 12 GB of VRAM reads as comfortable for 1080p, comfortable for 1440p and comfortable for 4K on High settings here. Memory is rarely a worry at these settings.
  • On a 16 GB card, 1080p is comfortable, 1440p is comfortable and 4K is comfortable on High. Memory is rarely a worry at these settings.

The published CPU range runs from Intel Core i5-7600K / AMD Ryzen 3 1200 to Intel Core i5-10400F / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. We turn that into a frame-rate ceiling for nine popular processors in the table.

With a CPU score above 87% of our data set, The Precinct rewards a quick processor. Pair a fast card with a weak chip and the card will wait.

The Core i5-12400F caps at roughly 127 FPS in The Precinct by our model. Beyond that frame rate the CPU, not the card, sets the pace.

Test your own pairing in the bottleneck checker and the system bottlenecks guide.

  • Set a frame cap at your monitor refresh rate to save power and noise, and check the VRR and frame cap calculator for a sensible figure.
  • Adjust a single setting at once and watch the frame rate, so you know which setting did the work.
  • After that, cut the most expensive settings. Shadow quality, volumetrics and view distance tend to cost the most when they exist.
  • Leave textures on High if memory allows. The speed cost is small. Our estimate for this game is 5.2 GB for 1440p.
  • Reach for upscaling first. It costs little image quality and gains many frames. Take the gentlest mode that delivers the frame rate you want.

Settings assume the game offers an upscaler; check the graphics menu. Want a tailored answer? Open the best settings generator, or compare modes in the DLSS and frame generation estimator.

Tips for an Action, Indie and Simulation titles like The Precinct

General guidance for this kind of game, chosen from the Steam genres and features.

These are general tips for demanding games of this type, not claims about how The Precinct itself is built. Use them as a prompt for what to test.

  • Simulation games usually keep the processor busy, so a strong CPU and plenty of RAM often help more than a bigger GPU.
  • Controller support makes living-room play practical, and TVs often cap at 60 or 120 Hz.
  • In action games, consistent frame times usually matter more than the average, so avoid settings that cause stutter.
  • Small teams sometimes skip advanced graphics menus, so resolution scaling and a frame cap may be your best tools.

Details here come from Steam's public store listing. We have not benchmarked every card, so treat the frame rates on this page as modelled estimates.

How we estimated The Precinct performance

A short, honest note on how the numbers are produced.

Here is what feeds the estimates: demand 27 from the recommended card, CPU score 35 (from the listed processor line), and a 1080p High VRAM figure of 4 GB (estimated from the demand score).

Frame rates scale each GPU against that demand, then adjust for resolution, preset, DLSS, FSR or XeSS-style upscaling and a memory penalty when a card runs short of VRAM. CPU limits cap the result using a fast reference processor in the GPU tables.

Nothing on this page is a measured benchmark. Expect real frame rates to differ with drivers, updates and your own system, and treat the tables as a guide.
