Test your own GPU, CPU and settings for this game
This is our PC performance guide for Shape of Dreams, an Action, Adventure and Indie title by Lizard Smoothie. It covers requirements, estimated FPS across 28 cards, memory needs, CPU and RAM advice, settings and what to expect on a gaming laptop.

How this game ranks among 937 modelled titles, with a look at what that means for each class of card.
On our demand scale Shape of Dreams scores 11. That makes it harder to run than 45% of the 937 games in our data set, which we class as a light game for graphics hardware.
Behind the number is the publisher recommended card, GeForce GTX 970 (2048 MB) / Radeon R9 Fury (4096 MB), converted to an equivalent 1080p High workload. That makes the score comparable between games, though not exact for any single one.
On the CPU side, Shape of Dreams scores 21, ahead of 21% of the 937 modelled games.
The official specs for Shape of Dreams, compared with real graphics cards and processors.
Published by the developer on Steam and subject to change with patches.
The listed minimum is GeForce GTX 960 (2048 MB) / R9 280 (2048 MB). Our model puts it near 107 FPS at 1080p on Low and 59 FPS on High, so treat it as an entry ticket rather than a target.
The recommended card, GeForce GTX 970 (2048 MB) / Radeon R9 Fury (4096 MB), reaches about 79 FPS at 1080p and 51 FPS at 1440p on High by our model. That is above 60 FPS at 1080p, so the recommended spec reads as a comfortable 1080p target.
Steam asks for Intel Core i7-6700K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X at the recommended level. That class of processor tops out near 100 FPS in Shape of Dreams by our model.
Steam sets memory at 8 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended, and asks for 12 GB available space of storage.

If you are comparing Shape of Dreams with other games, these pages cover titles with a similar hardware appetite or shared genres. Demand scores run on the same scale, so they are directly comparable.
At the time we checked (2026-11-02) Steam showed 6,788 reviews with a Very Positive rating and 94% positive. That is a useful signal for how widely played Shape of Dreams is.
Being out for around 14 months, Shape of Dreams may still receive performance patches, so keep it updated and keep your graphics drivers current.
The facts above are from the public Steam store page. Frame rates here are modelled, since we have not tested the game on every card.
A short, honest note on how the numbers are produced.
For Shape of Dreams the demand score of 11 comes from the recommended graphics card, the CPU score of 21 from the listed processor line, and the VRAM figure of 3 GB at 1080p High is estimated from the demand score.
Frame rates scale each graphics card against that demand, then adjust for resolution, preset, upscaling and a memory penalty when a card runs short of VRAM. CPU limits cap the result using a fast reference processor in the GPU tables.
These are modelled estimates, not benchmarks. Real results change with drivers, patches, cooling, the scene you play and your processor. Use the numbers to compare cards and settings, then check them in the game.
Short answers to the most common questions about running Shape of Dreams on PC.
Steam names GeForce GTX 960 (2048 MB) / AMD Radeon R9 280 (2048 MB) as the minimum graphics card and GeForce GTX 970 (2048 MB) / Radeon R9 Fury (4096 MB) as the recommended one. The recommended processor is Intel Core i7-6700K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, with memory at 8 GB RAM minimum and 8 GB RAM recommended. Storage needed is 12 GB available space.
Check the table of verdicts and use the checker for your exact CPU, GPU and RAM. In the model, 60 FPS at 1080p on High begins at the GTX 1060 6GB.
Aim for the GTX 1060 6GB or better for 1080p at 60 FPS on High; the RTX 5050 is the first current RTX 50 card to manage it.
At 1440p, 60 FPS on High starts with the GTX 1060 6GB. In the RTX 50 range that means the RTX 5050 or above.
Expect roughly 360+ FPS at 1080p and 266 FPS at 1440p on High. With 16 GB of memory, 1440p is comfortable, so you can usually raise the settings.
Roughly 348 FPS at 1440p on High, rising to around 360+ FPS with Quality DLSS, FSR or XeSS-style upscaling. Drivers, the area you play in and your CPU will move that.
Treat 4K as an upscaling job. The RTX 5050 is the first current RTX 50 card to hold 60 FPS at 4K on High with Quality upscaling by our model.
We estimate about 3 GB at 1080p, 3.9 GB at 1440p and 5.4 GB at 4K using the High preset. So 8GB is fine at 1080p and fine at 1440p. Treat it as a guide and leave some memory spare.
Our estimate is 3 GB at 1080p, 3.9 GB at 1440p and 5.4 GB at 4K using the High preset. That is derived from the publisher recommended specs, so it is a guide rather than a measurement.
The recommended processor is Intel Core i7-6700K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X and lists Intel Core i5-6400 / AMD FX-8320 as the minimum. In the model, Core i3-12100F, Ryzen 5 3600, Core i5-12400F, Ryzen 5 5600 and faster keep a graphics card fed above 60 FPS in this game.
The listing asks for 8 GB RAM minimum and 8 GB RAM recommended memory. In real use, 16 GB is a sensible target.
Plan for 12 GB available space of free space. Steam does not state an SSD requirement, but an SSD is recommended for loading times.
At typical wattage, RTX 5050 Laptop, RTX 5060 Laptop, RTX 5070 Laptop, RTX 5070 Ti Laptop, RTX 5080 Laptop, RTX 5090 Laptop reach 60 FPS at 1080p on High by our model. Power limit and cooling decide how close a real laptop gets.
Try High with the best upscaler in the menu, then reduce shadows and volumetrics if you need more frames. Use the settings table as a first guess for your card.
Our model rates it undemanding: a demand score of 11, higher than 45% of the 937 games, and a CPU score of 21, higher than 21%.
