How the quiz picks a card

The quiz builds a typical workload from your answers: a light esports title, a mix of games or demanding AAA games at your resolution, with the ray tracing level and upscaling you chose. It estimates frame rates for each desktop RTX 50 card, drops any that fall short of your memory, power supply or spend limits, and picks the lowest-ranked card that still reaches your target. Cards above it are shown as headroom options.

Frequently asked questions

How does the GPU picker choose a card?

It estimates frame rates for each desktop RTX 50 card at your resolution, ray tracing and upscaling choices, then filters by your VRAM needs, power supply limit and spend level. The best match is the lowest-ranked card that still reaches your target frame rate, with a stronger option shown for headroom.

Which RTX 50 card is best for 1440p?

It depends on your target frame rate and settings. Many players aim for a mid-range or upper mid-range card at 1440p, while heavy ray tracing at high refresh rates needs more. Run the quiz at 1440p with your own target and it will show the sensible range.

Do I need 16GB of VRAM?

Not for everyone. Esports and 1080p gaming run well on 8GB, and 12GB suits most 1440p play. Choose 16GB or more for 4K, heavy ray tracing, video editing or running local AI models, where memory capacity matters more than raw speed.

Does the quiz include prices?

No. Prices change daily and differ by retailer, so the quiz ranks cards by performance, memory, power and positioning instead. Use the shortlist it gives you, then compare current UK prices at retailers and read reviews of the exact model you plan to buy.

Should I buy an RTX 50 card or a cheaper RTX 40?

RTX 50 cards add 4x Multi Frame Generation and newer features, which matter if you play supported games at high refresh rates. A discounted RTX 40 card can still be good value for plain raster gaming. Compare both in our GPU comparison tool before deciding.
